States Bible c. 1930 – A. Jongbloed Leeuwarden – 28cm – Extra Thick Church Edition
Large interbellum States Bible published by A. Jongbloed N.V. in Leeuwarden.
Imposing church edition, 28 cm high and approximately 8 cm thick. A remarkably heavy and complete edition, including the Psalms, some Hymns, and ecclesiastical forms. This type was used as a family or church Bible in the first half of the 20th century.
Bound in black cover with gold print on the front and spine. The cover shows light signs of wear and a crease in the spine, commensurate with its age. The binding is still sturdy, and the book block is stable.
Interior printed in double columns, with registers and the complete States Translation according to the Synod of Dordrecht (1618–1619). Light age-related spots present, but no serious damage or missing pages visible.
A characteristic, sober, and voluminous pre-war Bible with a clear historical appeal.
