Japanese Satsuma Style Tea Set with Dragon Teapot – Eggshell Porcelain & Moriage Decor – Showa Period

€95,00

A distinctive Japanese porcelain tea set from the Showa period, executed in a decorative Satsuma-inspired style with rich enamel colors and gold accents.

The set consists of a striking teapot with a sculptural dragon-head spout and dragon handle, three cups, and four saucers. The surface is adorned with traditional figures in kimonos against a warm iron-brown background with landscape elements and subtle gold lines.

The decoration is executed with fine raised enamel and moriage-like dot details, giving parts of the decor a slight relief and the whole a lively texture.

The cups are made of refined eggshell porcelain, a technique where the porcelain is made particularly thin and slightly translucent. This type of porcelain was often used for Japanese tea sets from the first half of the 20th century.

The expressive dragon-head spout and gold-colored accents give the teapot a distinct character, making the set not only functional but also a striking decorative object.

A charming vintage tea set that can be appreciated both in use and in a display cabinet or interior setting.
