Wedding Bible 1927 – Netherlands Bible Society Amsterdam – 28cm

Interwar marriage Bible from 1927, published by the Netherlands Bible Society in Amsterdam.

This King James Bible was officially presented in 1930 at the blessing of the marriage of Frans Frederik Jan van 't Hul and Trijntje Hümer, on behalf of the Mennonite congregation in Amsterdam. The original marriage inscription is completely intact and forms a tangible piece of ecclesiastical history from pre-war Netherlands.

Bound in black linen with gold print on the spine, marbled edges, and red head- and tail-bands. Size 28 cm high and approximately 6 cm thick – a classic family size that occupied a central place in many Dutch households.

The interior is in neat condition. The binding shows age-appropriate signs of use, with slight wear to the head and tail and an old moisture stain on the edges. The binding structure is sturdy.

A characterful pre-war marriage Bible with clear dating and provenance.
