The New Testament 1884 – Statenvertaling – Antique Leather Bible with Gilt Edges
An impressive 19th-century copy of The New Testament according to the official Statenvertaling (Dutch Authorized Version).
Printed in 1884 in Haarlem by Johannes Enschedé en Zonen commissioned by the Nederlandsche Bijbel-Compagnie.
This edition is bound in full leather with a ribbed spine and remarkably well-preserved gilt edges. The book contains the official text as established after the Synod of Dordrecht (1618–1619) and includes the "Acte van Waarborg" (Act of Guarantee) from 1867.
Originally, the book was fitted with metal clasps; these are now missing. However, the book block is sturdy and the interior is in neat antique condition.
A powerful 19th-century religious heritage object.
