Bavaria Porcelain Cup and Saucer Set – U.S. Zone Germany c. 1945–1949
This porcelain cup and saucer set from Bavaria, Germany dates from the immediate post-war period (approx. 1945–1949) and bears the characteristic mark “Made in U.S.-Zone Germany”. This type of designation was only used for a few years, allowing the crockery to be clearly placed historically.
The floral decoration is applied using an underglaze transfer technique, a commonly used method during this period, after which the porcelain is finished with subtle gold accents along the rims and handles. This combination provided a refined appearance and durability, suitable for export quality.
The set consists of three cups and two saucers. One cup has a slightly different handle shape, which may indicate a production variation or a later addition. This contributes to the authentic, lived-in character of the set.
An atmospheric and historical object that is both decorative and collectible, and fits perfectly into an interior with an eye for detail and history.
