An impressive folio edition of Mother Goose's Fairy Tales, translated by Ant. L. de Rop and richly illustrated with engravings after drawings by Gustave Doré.

Published by D. Bolle in Rotterdam and printed by Firma Ruijgrok & Co. in Haarlem, presumably around the beginning of the 20th century.

This large edition (33.5 cm high) allows the famous Doré illustrations to truly shine. His dramatic linework and theatrical compositions are among the most iconic visual interpretations of Perrault's fairy tales – including Little Red Riding Hood, Tom Thumb, and Sleeping Beauty.

The book is sturdily bound with marbled boards and a leather spine. The interior is in good condition for its age. The title page was once professionally restored, otherwise, the pages are clean and the engravings sharp.

A monumental, decorative, and literary-historical edition that possesses both visual and cultural weight.
