Antique Plate Atlas for National History – Third Edition 1917 – Large Format 31 cm
Large illustrated plate atlas from the early 20th century.
This third edition of the Platen-Atlas voor de Vaderlandsche Geschiedenis (Plate Atlas for National History) was published by J.B. Wolters in Groningen and The Hague and served as visual teaching material for grammar schools and secondary education.
The book contains an extensive collection of historical images, including reproductions of seventeenth-century paintings, archaeological finds, coins, medieval architecture, and important moments from Dutch history. The plates are printed on sturdy paper and executed in black print.
Bound in original linen publisher's binding with a decorative title page in early 20th-century style. The large format of 31 cm makes the book visually striking and suitable as an object of study or as a source for decorative historical prints.
This copy is in fragile condition. The binding is weakened, several plates are loose, and there are some later added copy pages at the front. There is visible discoloration and wear appropriate to its age. This is an antique working copy.
