Steatite Box with Lid – Small Hand-Turned Snuff Box – ca. 1900

A small but characterful box made of solid soapstone, probably made around the beginning of the 20th century.

This cylindrical box is entirely turned and polished from natural stone. The warm honey and ochre tones in the stone, along with the natural veins and minerals, give each piece a unique character. Over the years, the surface has developed a soft patina that gives the object a calm, authentic look.

Boxes of this kind were often used as snuff boxes, pill boxes, or for small valuables. Its compact size means it fits easily in a drawer, on a desk, or in a curio cabinet, but it is also a subtle decorative object in its own right.

A small piece of craftsmanship in stone, with just enough imperfections to show that it is an object with a history.
