Memories of Rome – 130 Plates – Interwar Photo Book – Attilio Scrocchi – Series 125
Original Italian souvenir album Ricordo di Roma, published by Attilio Scrocchi during the interwar period (c. 1930s).
This album contains 130 high-quality photographic plates featuring cityscapes, architecture, painting, and sculpture from Rome. In addition to classical monuments such as St. Peter's Basilica and works by Michelangelo, it also includes photographs of the then Foro Mussolini (today's Foro Italico).
The Foro Mussolini was built during the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini and was considered an architectural prestige project of that period. Its inclusion clearly places this album in the political and cultural context of 1930s Italy. This makes it not only a tourist souvenir but also a tangible historical document from the interwar period.
Bound in sturdy cardboard with original cord binding and gold print "Serie N.125". The plates are printed in sepia/photogravure and feature multilingual captions.
A pre-war Rome album combining classical art with fascist-era architecture — historically relevant, visually striking, and collectible.
