Japanese Satsuma Moriage Vase – Hand-Painted & Richly Gilded – Showa Period (c. 1950–1970) – 18 cm
A distinctive Japanese Satsuma Moriage vase from the Showa period (approx. 1950–1970), richly decorated with hand-painted figures, raised relief work, and gold accents.
The vase depicts classic court scenes with geisha and sage figures, framed by intricate patterns in deep iron red, cobalt blue, and warm gold. The typical moriage relief – visible in the pearl-like dot decoration and raised details – adds extra depth and texture to the piece.
The combination of relief, gilding, and traditional Japanese iconography makes this a distinctly decorative object that immediately stands out in an interior or display cabinet.
The gold layer shows wear in some places, consistent with age and use, but structurally the vase is in excellent condition without cracks or chips.
