The New Testament 1884 – Statenvertaling – Antique Leather Bible with Metal Clasp
An antique copy of the New Testament according to the Statenvertaling (States Translation), printed in 1884 by the Nederlandsche Bijbel-Compagnie.
This edition contains the official translation as established after the Synod of Dort (1618–1619) and was printed by renowned Haarlem printers.
Bound in full leather with gilt edges and featuring a decorative metal clasp. The book has an impressive thickness of 5 cm and exudes 19th-century solidity.
The leather binding shows signs of age and tears at the edges; the metal clasp functions but no longer closes tightly. The interior is well-preserved.
A powerful historical object from the Dutch Protestant tradition.
