The Hague Canal Book (1999) – Old Photos 1855–1950 – History of The Hague – Bound Edition
The Hague Canal Book by Wim de Koning Gans is a richly illustrated publication about the vanished and altered waterways of The Hague city centre.
Although The Hague is not a classic canal city like Amsterdam, its city centre had a network of canals and waterways well into the 20th century. Based on more than a hundred historical photos (1855–1950), this book shows the city's appearance then: ships at the quays, bridges, warehouses, and daily life along the water.
In addition to impressive photography, the book contains historical maps, archival references, and an introduction by Kees Stal about the rise and disappearance of The Hague's waterways.
A beautifully bound copy in very good condition.
