The Catholic Church | Theology and Apologetics | Complete 3-Volume Set | Het Spectrum, Utrecht 1942-1946

A substantial three-volume edition of De Katholieke Kerk: Godsdienstleer en Apologie, published by N.V. Zonnewende in Kortrijk and Het Spectrum in Utrecht. This complete second edition includes all forty books of the work and provides a comprehensive overview of Roman Catholic doctrine from the 1940s.

Edited by Prof. D. Bont and Dr. C.F. Pauwels O.P., dozens of contributions address topics such as the existence of God, revelation and miracles, the sacraments, confession, the Ten Commandments, sin, church history, and the place of the Catholic Church in faith and society.

The three sturdy volumes have a classic dark brown binding with gold lettering, borders, and monograms. The top edges are also gilded. Despite their age, the interiors have remained exceptionally well-preserved, and the bindings and text blocks feel solid. The signs of use on the exterior simultaneously give the set the character of books that have actually been used and preserved for generations.

A distinctive complete set for a collection of Catholic books, church history, and Dutch religious culture from the first half of the twentieth century.
