Missal for Sundays and Feast Days - J. Dircx - Turnhout 1935
A compact Roman Catholic missal from 1935, compiled by J. Dircx, priest in Turnhout. The book was published during the interwar period and contains the masses for Sundays and holy days, supplemented by an ecclesiastical calendar, prayers, and exercises for daily religious use.
The mass liturgy is partially printed in parallel in Latin and Dutch and executed in elegant black and red typography. In addition, the missal contains religious illustrations and separate sections for the feasts of the Dutch dioceses.
The book is bound in a supple brown leather binding with gold lettering on the spine, gold lines along the cover, and gilt edges. Two loose ribbon markers with small religious medallions are present. On one of the endpapers, there are historical handwritten ownership inscriptions with the years 1936 and 1944.
The leather binding shows clear traces of years of use and therefore has a distinct patina. The book block itself has remained nice and firm, and the interior is in neat condition for its age.
