Japanese Teapot with Figural Decor | ca. 1920–1940
Atmospheric Japanese teapot from the early 20th century, manufactured for the export market. The pot is richly decorated with a hand-painted scene of two figures in traditional attire, set within a stylized landscape with trees. The warm earth tones and glossy glaze give the object a peaceful, almost narrative quality.
The mark “FOREIGN” on the underside indicates production for the Western market and places this teapot in the interwar period. A characterful piece that appears both functional and highly decorative, perfect as an eye-catcher in a china cabinet or on an open shelf.
