Japanese Imari Style Wall Plate with Gold Decor – Hand-Painted Porcelain c. 1960
Large and richly decorated Japanese wall plate in Imari style, crafted in porcelain with a combination of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze enamels, and gold accents.
The plate is composed of multiple cartouches featuring traditional garden and architectural motifs, interspersed with floral fields and a central medallion. The characteristic deep cobalt blue hue displays a subtle marbled effect, created during the firing process, which adds extra depth to the piece.
The combination of refined linework, relief in the enamel, and richly applied gold makes this a distinctly decorative object. Despite a small chip on the reverse, the front remains visually strong and representative.
A classic piece that fits well within both traditional and eclectic interiors.
