A remarkable French historical work on the church and faith from 1848, published by Barbou Frères in Limoges. Les Gloires de l'Église Naissante pendant les trois premiers siècles du Christianisme covers the first three centuries of Christianity through the lives of key early Christian writers, saints, and church fathers.

Figures such as Clement, Barnabas, Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Justin, Irenaeus of Lyon, Tertullian, Origen, and Cyprian are featured. The work was published as part of the Bibliothèque Chrétienne et Morale and bears the ecclesiastical approval of the Bishop of Limoges.

The original blue publisher's binding is particularly beautiful. Both the front and back covers, as well as the spine, are richly adorned with gilt floral and ornamental decorations. The preserved engraved frontispiece and the original typography make the book a characteristic example of French religious book production from the mid-19th century.

The copy shows clear traces of its long history of use, including old handwritten ownership and usage notes. The binding shows wear on the edges, corners, and spine. The binding is fragile and the book block is beginning to detach from the spine structure. The engraved frontispiece is loose. In addition, some older repairs are visible. An authentic and decorative copy that should be handled with some caution.
