A fully illustrated overview of the history of the Mennonites in the Netherlands, written by N. van der Zijpp and published in 1952 by Van Loghum Slaterus in Arnhem.

Van der Zijpp covers the development of the Mennonite movement from its origins in the Reformation and early Anabaptism to the Dutch Mennonite congregations of the 20th century. Extensive attention is paid, among other things, to Menno Simons, the persecution of Anabaptists and martyrs, the development and divisions within the Dutch congregations, tolerance, modernism, and daily life within the Mennonite community.

The book is richly illustrated with historical images, including portraits, old prints, facsimiles of early printed works, and photographs of Mennonite churches and historic interiors. Depicted are, among others, Menno Simons, Hans de Ries, early printed works of Menno Simons from 1539, and the execution of Anneken Hendriks in Amsterdam in 1571.

This original 1952 edition is bound in a red linen hardcover with gold-stamped lettering and decoration and a blue top edge. The text block is in good condition, and the illustrations and text pages have been beautifully preserved. The spine is clearly discolored to some extent, and there is local damage at the first endpaper. Furthermore, light signs of wear and age are visible.
