Boch Belgium for Royal Sphinx Delft Blue Lidded Vase with Lion

Imposing blue-and-white lidded vase by Boch Belgium, manufactured for Royal Sphinx Holland in Maastricht. A characterful vintage piece from the 1970s that combines a classic Dutch décor with a substantial, hexagonal shape.

The vase is adorned with richly detailed panels depicting Dutch landscapes, including a windmill by the water and sailboats, interspersed with floral motifs and elegant ornamental bands. The matching lid is crowned by a stylized lion-like figure, giving the vase a striking silhouette even from a distance.

The underside bears the original mark “Made for Royal Sphinx Holland by Boch Belgium” with the designation “Delfts”. This production resulted from the collaboration between Royal Sphinx in Maastricht and the Belgian pottery factory Boch. The blue-and-white transfer print is inspired by traditional Delftware.

With a height of approximately 32 cm, this is a generous decorative object that looks beautiful on a cabinet, mantelpiece, or as part of a collection of blue-and-white ceramics.
