A specially illustrated edition of Twee Verhalen (Two Stories) by A.C.W. Staring, published in 1941 by the Wereldbibliotheek-Vereeniging in Amsterdam.

This small hardcover book contains the historical tales Het Wilhelmus te Ede and Wolfert Swaertvegher, originally published in 1837.

The edition was produced during the Second World War as an Easter gift for members of the Wereldbibliotheek-Vereeniging.

Notable are the colorful illustrations by Hans van Ingen. His drawings, executed in orange, yellow, and black, bring the historical tales to life. The cover and title page are also richly illustrated.

This copy also includes the original loose Paaschgroet 1941 (Easter Greeting 1941). This separate insert, also designed by Hans van Ingen, was issued at the time by the Wereldbibliotheek-Vereeniging.

An attractive piece of Dutch book and illustration history from the war years.
