Vintage 1985 Japanese porcelain teacup by Franklin Porcelain, from the limited series Kachō Jūnikagetsu, or "Flowers and Birds of the Twelve Months".

This piece is decorated all around with an old blossoming tree full of soft pink plum blossoms, among which three birds are depicted. On one side, two birds form the centerpiece of the scene, while the decoration continues around with whimsical branches and fine blossoms.

The imagery aligns with the Japanese tradition of kachō-e, art that focuses on flowers, birds, and the changing of the seasons. The detailed depiction of nature is framed at the top and bottom by cobalt blue geometric decorative bands and fine gold-colored accents.

The underside bears the original Japanese Franklin Porcelain mark with the series name 花鳥十二ヵ月, the designation for limited edition, © 1985 FP and JAPAN.

Part of a twelve-piece collector's series, with each cup featuring its own flower and bird illustration.
