1867 French edition of Vie de Sainte Rose de Lima, an extensive nineteenth-century biography of Saint Rose of Lima by the Dominican author Léonard Hansen. This Nouvelle édition was published by the Catholic publishing house Périsse Frères, Régis Ruffet et Cie, with offices in Paris and Brussels.

Rose of Lima (1586-1617) was a Peruvian mystic and member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic. Following her canonization in 1671, she became one of the most important saints in Latin America. The book covers her life from her youth in Lima to her religious life, asceticism, mystical experiences, death, and funeral.

The book contains over 360 pages and is carefully printed with decorative initials and various small illustrative ornaments throughout the text. The dark blue cover is combined with a dark brown spine, upon which the abbreviated title S. Rose de Lima and floral ornaments are applied in gold.

An authentic Catholic hagiography from the second half of the 19th century, with clear signs of use and age consistent with its long history.
