Brass Crucifix with Christ Corpus – Interwar Devotional Cross – 25 cm
Vintage crucifix with a Christ corpus, crafted from cast metal on a cross of brass profiles, presumably dating from the interwar period.
The Christ figure is made of a dark-patinated metal alloy and displays an expressive, naturalistic representation of Christ on the cross. The slender anatomy and simple design are characteristic of Catholic devotional art from the early 20th century.
The cross itself is constructed from brass profile bars, giving the object a sleek and almost architectural appearance. At the top, there is a suspension eye, allowing the cross to be easily mounted on a wall.
Over the years, the metal has developed a beautiful warm patina that highlights the religious character and age of the object.
A characterful religious object that is suitable both as a devotional wall cross and as a decorative element within a collection of religious art.
