Japanese Satsuma-Style Moriage Mini Saucer – Showa Period – 8.5 cm – Richly Gilded
Ziggy's Collection
Compact Japanese miniature saucer executed in classic Satsuma style with applied Moriage relief and rich gilt decoration.
The central female figure is surrounded by multiple character heads in gold cartouches, worked out in raised gold lines and fine dot moriage. The warm reddish-brown background enhances the contrast with the polished gold and deep color areas.
The relief is clearly palpable in the gold contours and kimono details, typical of Showa-period Satsuma-style decoration.
With a size of 8.5 cm, this is a decorative cabinet piece that is well-suited for display in a cabinet or as part of an Asian collection.
