An original German special issue of the Süddeutsche Monatshefte from September 1931, entirely devoted to disarmament, international security and the political consequences of the First World War.
This twelfth and final issue of the 28th volume was published during the final years of the Weimar Republic, at a time when the Treaty of Versailles, Germany's military restrictions and the international disarmament negotiations were central to the German political debate. Articles cover, among other things, German disarmament, military equality, European armament and the relationship between disarmament and national security.
The extensive original advertising section is also noteworthy. It promotes political and military publications from 1931, including books on pacifism, National Socialism, warfare and Mussolini's fascist Italy. These advertisements provide a direct insight into the highly polarized political and intellectual climate of Germany shortly before the National Socialist seizure of power.
The copy bears several historical stamps from an Offiziersbücherei and Nachrichten-Abteilung, which also gives it an interesting military library provenance.
A tangible contemporary document from the European interwar period, interesting for collectors of political history, Weimar Germany, military history and historical periodicals.
