Vintage Japanese porcelain teacup from 1985 by Franklin Porcelain, from the limited series Kachō Jūnikagetsu, or “Flowers and Birds of the Twelve Months”.

This piece is richly decorated all around with a colorful Japanese nature scene of pheasants amidst lush, blooming pink azaleas. One pheasant stands among the flowers, while a second bird with its long, characteristic tail flies above the foliage.

The imagery aligns with the Japanese tradition of kachō-e, in which flowers and birds are the central focus. The detailed nature scene is framed at the top and bottom by cobalt blue geometric decorative bands and fine gold-colored accents.

The underside bears the original Japanese Franklin Porcelain mark with the series name 花鳥十二ヵ月, the designation for limited edition, © 1985 FP, and JAPAN.

Part of a twelve-piece collector's series, with each cup featuring its own unique flower and bird design.
