Dutch Staten Bible from circa 1950, published by the Nederlandsch Bijbelgenootschap in Amsterdam and printed by N.V. Drukkerij “Vada” in Wageningen.

This well-preserved post-war edition contains the complete Statenvertaling of the Old and New Testaments and has 1314 numbered pages. The Bible is bound in black cloth with the title stamped in gold on the front cover and spine. Subtle blind stamping along the boards and across the spine gives the otherwise plain binding a classic finish.

The fully marbled edges are particularly beautiful, featuring a vibrant cream and black-and-grey pattern. Combined with the red-and-white headbands, this creates a decorative contrast with the black binding.

At the front is an original ecclesiastical marriage inscription, dated March 2, 1950. The Bible was presented by a Dutch Reformed church council on the occasion of the ecclesiastical confirmation of a marriage. On the following page, a Bible verse from Matthew has also been handwritten. These personal additions give the copy a distinctive Dutch Protestant usage history.

The book is in well-preserved condition for its age. The black cloth binding is sturdy and has retained its colour and gold lettering well. The interior is complete. There are occasional dark discolourations on the endpapers, caused by glue from a later plastic protective cover. This cover has since been removed.
