Statenbijbel (1930) | Blue Linen Binding with Red Edges and Cloth Cover

$29.00

A beautifully crafted Dutch Statenbijbel from 1930, published by the Netherlands Bible Society in Amsterdam.

This compact Bible contains both the Old and New Testaments in the historical Statenvertaling (States Translation). The book is bound in a dark blue linen cover with gold-colored lettering and a subtle border line on the front cover.

Particularly attractive are the deep red page edges and the decorative endpapers with a repeating leaf motif. Together with the elegant blue binding, these details give the book a characteristic look from the interwar period.

On the front flyleaf, there is a handwritten dedication from 1934. It shows that the Bible was presented at the time upon leaving the Mennonite Sunday School in Balk, Friesland. A personal detail that tells something about the history of this copy.

The Bible also comes with a separate black fabric protective sleeve with gold-colored letters.
