First edition from 1929 of Het Probleem der Ziel by the Dutch writer and philosopher Felix Ortt, issued in a large linen binding with characteristic geometric decoration.

In this work, Ortt explores the nature and origin of the human soul from the perspective of the psychology, philosophy, and worldview of his time. Topics such as life after death, spiritual phenomena, psychometry, the collective soul, and the relationship between body, psyche, and consciousness are discussed in detail. Thus, the book forms a remarkable historical document of the way psychology, spirituality, and human consciousness were thought about during the interwar period.

At the front is an pasted-in ex libris with an illustration by Anton Pieck, signed in the image. During his career, Pieck created a large number of personal ex libris, in which the books, professions, and interests of the owner often played an important role. The ex libris in this copy shows a man reading in front of a richly stocked bookcase. At the top of the endpaper, there is also the handwritten dedication "Voor Thea.".

The original beige linen binding with blue-black graphic design is still sturdy and the binding is in good condition. An attractive Dutch interwar book in which content, book design, and the pasted-in work by Anton Pieck come together beautifully.
