Hille Collecting Albums The Hoge Veluwe I, II & III - Rein Stuurman - Zaandam 1954

Ons Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is a three-part series of pocket albums, published in 1954 by the N.V. Koek- en Beschuitfabriek v/h G. Hille & Zn. in Zaandam. The albums were released as a collector’s edition, with the corresponding stickers collected via Hille products.

The three volumes take the reader through the nature of De Hoge Veluwe National Park. The texts are by nature writer A.B. Wigman and are complemented by atmospheric color illustrations by Rein Stuurman (1900-1984), known for his accurate and characterful depictions of birds and other Dutch nature.

Originally, the three-part series had space for a total of 90 collector's stickers, 30 per album. All three volumes are present in this set, and a large portion of the stickers has been preserved. Some stickers are missing, meaning the albums are not completely filled.

The small pocket albums are a characteristic example of Dutch advertising and collecting culture from the 1950s. Manufacturers combined their products with collector's stickers and albums that also had an educational purpose. This series focused on Dutch nature and specifically De Hoge Veluwe.

The albums are in used vintage condition. The original covers are present and show discoloration, wear, and signs of use consistent with their age. Traces of age are also visible inside. The included color stickers still give the albums their attractive and nostalgic character.

A beautiful three-part set for collectors of Dutch advertising albums, vintage sticker albums, Rein Stuurman, and historical publications about De Hoge Veluwe.
