Antique French-language New Testament from 1890, featuring the historical Bible translation by Isaac-Louis Le Maistre de Saci based on the Latin Vulgate.

This compact edition contains the complete New Testament from the Gospel according to Matthew to the Revelation of John, spanning 559 pages. The title page mentions Paris and Brussels and dates the copy with the Roman numerals MDCCCXC, or 1890.

The text is based on the 1759 Paris edition, and the historical ecclesiastical approvals of the Saci translation are included at the beginning. Le Maistre de Saci was one of the key translators behind the influential French Port-Royal Bible.

The book is bound in a modest dark brown cloth binding with a barely visible title on the front cover. The small format of only approximately 12 × 8 cm gives the book the character of a personal, portable New Testament. The discolored page edges, restrained binding, and slight signs of wear are appropriate for a religious book that is now over 130 years old.

An authentic late 19th-century religious book, interesting as a collector's item, for a collection of old Bibles, or as a small historical object in a bookcase or interior.
