Chinese Famille Rose Covered Jar | Rose Medallion Decor | Vintage 1960-1980

Small vintage Chinese porcelain lidded jar, richly decorated in the colorful famille rose tradition. Despite its compact size of only 9 cm, almost the entire surface is filled with figurative scenes, flowers, birds, and ornaments.

The jar features Chinese figures in traditional clothing all around, framed by exuberant floral and leaf motifs. The classic palette of pink, green, blue, yellow, and iron red is complemented by numerous gold accents. The matching lid is also richly decorated and features a high, pointed finial with a gilded top.

The decoration is executed in polychrome overglaze enamel with hand-applied color and gold accents, in a style consistent with the well-known Rose Medallion export porcelain.

On the underside is the original red export mark with Chinese characters and the text "MADE IN CHINA," consistent with Chinese export production from the second half of the 20th century.

A remarkably decorative small piece with a striking amount of detail and a beautifully preserved color palette.
