Lusterware Saucers - Rococo Pair - Set of 2 - Vintage Japan
Set of two small vintage porcelain saucers, probably made in Japan around 1950-1970. Both are decorated with a romantic depiction of an elegantly dressed couple in rococo style.
Although the central motif is the same, the two saucers each have their own rim decoration. One piece has a green iridescent luster finish with gold accents. The other is more richly decorated with a burgundy inner rim and a wide gold-colored rim with floral ornaments.
The glossy luster finish gives the porcelain a pearlescent color effect depending on the light. This type of richly decorated porcelain was widely produced as decorative export ware in the mid-20th century.
There are no factory or origin marks on the back. The Japanese origin and dating are therefore based on the material, decoration, and similar lusterware from this period and cannot be established with complete certainty.
