Original Italian photo album Ricordo di Roma, published by Attilio Scrocchi in Milan and dating from the interwar period, presumably the 1930s.

The album contains no fewer than 130 photographic plates that together provide a comprehensive picture of Rome in the first part of the 20th century. Monuments from classical antiquity are interspersed with churches, sculpture, squares, cityscapes and architecture from modern Rome at the time. Among others, the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, the Roman Forum and various artworks from the Roman museums are featured.

What is particularly attractive about this copy is the condition in which the photographic plates have been preserved. The images are predominantly clear and sharp, with good contrast and a lot of original detail. The slight discoloration of the paper around the plates is consistent with the age of the album and gives the pages their characteristic historical appearance. This makes it not only a decorative book, but also an interesting photographic document of Rome from almost a century ago.

In addition to the classical monuments, the album also shows the Foro Mussolini of the time, now the Foro Italico. This monumental sports complex was built during Benito Mussolini's fascist rule and forms a recognizable example of the architecture and visual language of Italy in the 1930s. The original photographs thus clearly place the album within the historical and cultural context of the interwar period.

The album is bound in sturdy cardboard covers with an original cord binding. On the front cover is a colored depiction of St. Peter's Square with the title ROMA. The title page is richly decorated with decorative typography and a heraldic motif. On the back is printed "Serie N.125" in gold.

Despite its age, the album as a whole has been well preserved. The binding shows normal signs of use and age and the pages have an even discoloration along the edges. However, the main strength of this copy lies inside: the extensive series of photographic plates is still particularly attractive and together forms an impressive visual overview of Rome during the interwar period.
