A compact Danish church book from 1938, published in Copenhagen by Det Kgl. Vajsenhus' Forlag. This Salmebog for Kirke og Hjem belongs to the official Danish psalm tradition that was used in church and home for decades from the end of the 19th century.

The book contains 675 psalms and an extensive collection of ecclesiastical texts and prayers for, among others, the liturgical year, baptism, communion, marriage, burial, travel, illness and daily prayer. The decorative title page is illustrated with various historic Danish churches and cathedrals from, among others, Aarhus, Ribe, Roskilde, Odense, Viborg and Copenhagen.

Particularly attractive is the compact black binding with gold lettering on the spine and the fully gilt edges. The text block is very well preserved for its age and is sturdy. The binding shows signs of use and an original blank endpaper seems to be missing from the front.

A characteristic Danish church book from the interwar period, interesting as a religious collector's item and as a tangible part of Danish church history.
