Black Ceramic Cat Figurine with Green Eyes | 12 cm

An expressive vintage cat figurine in high-gloss black ceramic, executed in a low, playful stalking pose. The cat lies with its head and front paws close to the ground, while the hindquarters rise and the large tail curves strikingly over its back.

The deep black glaze gives the rounded forms an almost mirror-like finish. The bright green bulbous eyes with dark pupils form a strong contrast with the black ceramic and give the figurine its characteristic, almost cartoonish appearance. The small ears, individually modeled paws, and toes are also clearly defined in the form.

Black ceramic cats were popular decorative objects in the interiors of the second half of the twentieth century. This compact specimen is distinguished primarily by its unusually low posture, large curled tail, and striking green eyes.
