New Testament - Gebr. Zomer & Keuning, Wageningen ca. 1880–1910 - Leather Binding with Flap and Gilt Edges

A compact and characterful New Testament from circa 1900, bound in leather with an original clasp flap and gilt-edged pages.

This type of small Bible was made for daily use and to be carried around easily. Its small size and sturdy construction are perfectly suited for this. Over the years, the leather cover has developed a beautiful, lived-in patina with visible wear along the edges.

The gilt edge is clearly present and gives the book a refined appearance; the original snap-button closure is intact.

This edition contains the New Testament as well as the Psalms, set in compact print. The edition was published by Gebr. Zomer & Keuning in Wageningen and follows the tradition of the Statenvertaling (States Translation).

The book has been used, and this is visible. The cover and spine show wear, and at the back, the binding is partially visible. The text block is complete, with slight deformation of the pages, but remains easy to handle.
