A characterful French Catholic meditation book from 1866, written by the Jesuit Paul-Gabriel Antoine and in this edition revised and supplemented by Père C. Aubert.

Méditations pour tous les jours de l'année contains meditations on the Christian faith, the virtues, the life of Jesus Christ, and the most important church holidays. This edition was published in Paris by Librairie Veuve Poussielgue et Fils and printed by Mame in Tours.

Particularly beautiful is the 19th-century half-leather binding with raised bands and gold-stamped title on the spine. The boards are finished with marbled paper, and the book features colorfully marbled endpapers and a strikingly decorative marbled edge.

An authentic copy with clear signs of its long history. The book has old moisture damage, foxing, and discoloration in the paper. The binding shows wear and loss of material, and the boards are partially warped. The beautiful leather spine, gold lettering, and marbled binding details have remained clearly recognizable.
