A beautiful vintage edition of De Gelaarsde Kat, published in 1951 by H.P. Leopolds Uitgeversmij in The Hague. The classic fairy tale was retold by Erich Kästner and Ben van Eysselsteijn and features the characteristic illustrations of Walter Trier.

This first Dutch edition contains eleven color plates and many drawings. The large color illustrations in particular give the book its distinctive appeal, with Trier's recognizable combination of humor, movement, and bright colors.

The book has clearly not survived its age unscathed. The illustrated binding shows wear and damage to the edges and corners. The binding is fragile, and some separation is visible between several gatherings. There are several old pencil marks at the back. The colorful illustrations themselves have remained particularly atmospheric.

A charming edition from the early 1950s, interesting for lovers of classic children's books, Erich Kästner, and the illustrations of Walter Trier.
