Vintage 1985 Japanese porcelain teacup by Franklin Porcelain, from the limited series Kachō Jūnikagetsu, or “Flowers and Birds of the Twelve Months”.

This piece is decorated all around with a colorful rooster amidst blooming morning glories. The rooster is centered among graceful green vines and bright blue flowers, with detailed plumage in warm shades of brown, gold, black, and white. On the other side, two small yellow chicks are depicted among the flowers.

The scene aligns with the Japanese tradition of kachō-e, which focuses on birds and plants. The morning glory, known in Japan as asagao, is a classic Japanese floral motif strongly associated with summer.

The natural scene is framed at the top and bottom by cobalt blue geometric decorative bands and fine gold-colored accents.

The underside bears the original Japanese Franklin Porcelain mark with the series name 花鳥十二ヵ月, the designation for a limited edition, © 1985 FP, and JAPAN.

Part of a twelve-piece collector's series, with each cup featuring its own flower and bird representation.
