Die Nilbraut (1887) - Georg Ebers - Complete 3-Volume Set

Complete three-volume edition of Die Nilbraut, the historical novel by German Egyptologist and writer Georg Ebers. The three volumes were published in 1887 by Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt in Stuttgart and Leipzig.

In the 19th century, Ebers was one of the authors who combined scientific interest in ancient Egypt with historical fiction. Die Nilbraut is set in Egypt against the backdrop of the transition from Byzantine to Arab rule.

This set is particularly attractive due to its uniform original publisher's cloth bindings. The brown cloth bindings are richly decorated over almost the entire front cover and spine with gold and black printing, geometric patterns, floral ornaments, and symbolic motifs. The three spines are numbered separately I, II, and III.

The original dark green endpapers and colored speckled fore-edge painting have also been preserved. At the back, there are several original publisher's advertisements, including advertisements for other works by Ebers and richly illustrated literary editions by Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt.

The set is in remarkably well-preserved condition for its age. The bindings are sturdy and the rich decoration is well preserved. The paper shows scattered light age spots and foxing, and the bindings have minor signs of wear along the edges and corners.
