A beautifully produced Roman Catholic missal from 1951, published and printed by the renowned Brepols in Turnhout. This extensive Missel Quotidien, Vespéral et Rituel was provided with translations and explanatory notes by Dom Gérard, a Benedictine of the Abbey of Clervaux.

The missal was compiled for daily Catholic religious life and, in addition to the Mass texts, contains vespers, texts for the liturgical year, sacraments and rituals, saints' feast days, and Masses for the deceased. The liturgical texts are presented in Latin with French translation and commentary. Various sections are printed in a fine black-and-red two-color print, and the book also contains decorative initials, religious ornaments, and pages with musical notation.

Its physical execution also makes this an attractive copy. The brownish-red binding has a fine grain structure and a clearly legible gilt title on the spine. The book is finished with marbled endpapers, decorative borders along the inside of the binding, gilt edges, and multiple colored ribbon markers. It is precisely this combination that gives the missal the character of a personal liturgical devotional book from the mid-twentieth century.

The copy is in well-kept used condition for its age. The binding, spine, gilding, and interior are still in good presentation. In the frequently used section of the Mass, one double leaf has detached from the binding. The leaf is present and is kept with the book.
