French Catholic gospel book from 1869, compiled by the influential French cleric Félix Dupanloup, Bishop of Orléans. This 19th edition of Évangiles des Dimanches et Fêtes de l'Année was published in Paris by Librairie Devarenne, F. Rocher successeur.

The compact book contains the gospel texts for the Sundays and religious holidays of the year, supplemented with explanatory notes and prayers for use during Mass. The edition was specifically intended for catechesis, First Communion, and Christian education.

Special to this copy are the preserved traces of its 19th-century French history of use. Inside the front is an old label from Librairie Religieuse V. Pousset, Papetier on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, along with an old handwritten ownership note and an address on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

Bound in a sober black hardcover with blind-stamped decoration and gilt title on the spine. An authentic small prayer book from Second French Empire Paris.

The book is in authentic antique condition with traces of use and age. The paper shows foxing, discoloration, and localized traces of moisture. The binding has wear to the edges and corners. See photos for condition and details.
