French Devotional Book 'Mois du Sacré Cœur de Jésus' (1850) | Leather Binding | Gilt Edges
A beautiful antique French Catholic devotional book from the mid-nineteenth century, titled Mois du Sacré Cœur de Jésus. This copy was published by the renowned Parisian publisher Poussielgue-Rusand and bears the year 1850 on the title page.
The book is bound in full leather with blind stamping and a gilt title on the spine. The gilt edges have been exceptionally well preserved, giving the book a polished and luxurious appearance. The original green ribbon marker is also still present.
Inside, the white endpapers feature a subtle relief pattern, a beautiful quality finish that fits well with the refined execution of the book. The book block is completely intact and the original sewn binding still feels remarkably firm.
Light foxing, normal wear to the binding, and a historical owner's inscription are consistent with its age and do not detract from its authentic appeal.
A particularly decorative and collectible religious book that fits perfectly within a collection of antique books, religious objects, or a classic interior style.
