Vespers Missal | Mont-César Benedictines Leuven | 1946 Missal
French-language Roman Catholic Missel Vespéral from 1946, compiled and annotated by the Benedictines of Mont-César in Leuven and printed by Desclée De Brouwer in Belgium.
This compact liturgical edition contains the services for all Sundays and the most important church holidays, with Latin liturgical texts alongside their French translation. In addition to the Mass texts, the book includes the traditional church calendar, vespers, and Gregorian musical notation.
The brown leather binding is decorated on the front cover with gold-colored Christian symbolism: the Chi-Rho monogram with Alpha and Omega. The spine title is also executed in gold. The text block is finished with gilt edges all around, and several colored ribbon markers have been preserved.
A characteristic early post-war Catholic edition from the traditional liturgical period before Vatican II, produced as a personal missal.
The book is in authentic used condition. The interior is generally clean, and the gilt edges are well preserved. The leather binding shows clear signs of age and use, with wear and loss of material at the corners and edges. The front binding is weakened and partially detached. See the photos for a full impression of its condition.
