Geisha Figurine with Fan | Resin & Silver-tone Accents | Circa 1970-1990

Striking vintage statue of a Japanese lady in a kimono, executed in dark brown resin with contrasting silver-colored details.

The figure wears a long, highly stylized kimono with wide sleeves and a large light-colored obi on the back. The combination of the rough, dark brown surface with the reflective face, hairstyle, hands, and fan gives the statue its characteristic appearance. The sober design and strong material contrast fit beautifully with decorative design from the second half of the 20th century.

The lady is depicted with a traditional updo hairstyle and is holding an open fan in front of her. Rather than a highly refined, naturalistic representation, simple shapes and various surface textures have been deliberately chosen.
