A compact travel guide from the early 20th century, intended for Dutch travelers wanting to find their way in London.

“Help U Zelf op Reis met Engelsch” (Help Yourself on Your Trip with English) combines practical language assistance with an overview of sights, hotels, and everyday situations. The guide also contains a multi-day itinerary through London and references to the Isle of Wight.

This edition from The Hague dates from around 1912 and provides a wonderful insight into how people traveled and communicated back then. In the back are original advertising pages from shops and brands in The Hague, which give the booklet extra character.

On the flyleaf is a handwritten name with a date (1912), which contributes to the personal and historical character of the piece.

The red linen binding with gold lettering shows clear signs of wear, consistent with its age and use. The interior is neat and well-preserved.

An authentic travel item from the early 20th century, both decorative and interesting for collectors of old travel guides.
