Satsuma style lidded vase with Moriage decor – Japan – hand-painted
A richly decorated Japanese lidded vase in Satsuma style, executed with refined moriage relief and striking use of color.
The vase features detailed scenes all around with figures in traditional attire, framed by gold accents and fine line work. The combination of warm earth tones, bright blue, red, and green gives the piece a lively and classic appearance.
The decoration is partly applied in relief, characteristic of the moriage technique, where the paint literally lies on the surface and forms a tactile texture. This provides extra depth and makes the piece visually interesting from every angle.
Comes with a matching lid with a gilded finial, which completes the whole. Beautiful as a decorative object on its own, but also fitting within a collection of Asian ceramics.
