The classic binding is particularly attractive: executed in brown leather and marbled paper, with leather corners, decorative blind stamping, and a spine with raised bands. Despite its age, the gold-stamped title BIJBEL and the small ornament on the spine are still clearly visible.

The substantial text block has been remarkably well preserved. The binding is sturdy and the pages are mostly clean, with only limited signs of age. The leather parts of the binding show wear and patina along the spine, edges, and corners, consistent with prolonged use and the age of the book.

Between a few pages, later added religious text cards have been preserved, a small trace of the personal use of this Bible.

A stylish antique Staten Bible in which Dutch religious history, printing, and traditional bookbinding come together.

Details

Title: Bijbel, dat is: De Gansche Heilige Schrift

Type: Staten Bible

Contents: Old and New Testaments

Translation: Staten translation

Publisher: De Nederlandsche Bijbel-Compagnie

Publisher Amsterdam: J.
