Set of 4 Religious Postcards 1944 - WWII Rotterdam - Bible Verses

Set of four original religious postcards, sent in 1944 during the final phase of the Second World War.

The cards feature atmospheric botanical illustrations of flowers and birds, combined with biblical texts from, among others, John, Acts, and the Psalms. Clear 1944 postmarks are visible on the reverse sides, as well as original Dutch stamps.

Notable are the wartime details: in addition to the well-known appeal for paper recycling, some cards contain instructions regarding incendiary bombs and firefighting equipment. This provides a direct glimpse into daily life under the threat of bombardment.

All cards were sent to the same address in Rotterdam, which makes this set extra interesting as a small historical collection.

A modest but powerful set with both decorative and historical value.
